Your Contribution to MercyLine Uganda
There are many ways you can provide financial help to MercyLine. You can select a specific project below, or give to our General Fund. General Fund donations are used at the discretion of the Board of Directors for monthly operating expenses of the MercyLine Children’s Home, unexpected expenses or to complete necessary projects. Whatever your choice, we greatly appreciate your help and support! You may make contributions using the Donate button on the MercyLine website, by mail, or, citizens of the United States can make contributions through our partner, Beret’s Light, a U.S. 501 (c)(3) organization. Beret’s Light is the principal sponsor of MercyLine. 100% of your donation to Beret’s Light goes to support MercyLine; administrative costs are contributed separately by other donors.
Contribute to the Building Fund for the MercyLine Children’s Home – Beret’s Light Kindergarten Building
Your contribution to the Children’s Home will help MercyLine complete necessary building projects and maintenance to existing buildings. We have been fortunate to be able to construct most of the buildings needed (click here for details), but we have one large building project left. We will gratefully accept any size contribution to the building fund. Any contribution, even $25, will help!
Replace the Beret’s Light Kindergarten building – $10,000.
The Children’s Home currently has only one shower stall for all the children and staff. We would like to add two additional shower stalls. – $1,500.
Larger School Bus – $5,000
MercyLine children who attend primary and secondary school require transportation into the city of Jinja each school day. Our current van is not large enough for the 28 children who need transporting. We would like to trade in our current van for a small used school bus.
Fight Diseases with Medicine – $15 per person or $500 per month
Malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS are three of the world’s most dreaded diseases. They kill millions of people each year and have undermined the stability of entire nations. Yet all three can be prevented and except for HIV they can be cured.
MercyLine is fighting these and other diseases by providing funding for clinical visits and vaccinations. This fund enables our staff to bring medical care, health services, hygiene projects, and other aid to desperate communities as needs arise and the Lord opens doors. In the face of death and despair, MercyLine is able to share the hope of everlasting life in Jesus Christ.
Bibles & Christian Literature $30
MercyLine works with local believers to bring God’s Word to thousands of poor and suffering people. For most, it’s their first time to read the Good News in their own language. A gift of $30 can provide scripture and other materials that lead the way to true freedom in Jesus Christ. (Please see note below about shipping donations.)
“If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8:31-32, NASB).
Farming Supplies $45
Many women living in impoverished rural communities struggle in feeding their families. To help educate and equip these women to farm some of their own food, MercyLine Uganda is helping communities get sustainable sources of food and income. A gift of $45 can provide a woman with the training, tools, seeds, and supplies to grow ample food for her family. (Please see note below about shipping donations.)
Vocational Training – Mercy Line Uganda $120
Widows, orphaned teens, women whose husbands do not provide for their families, and other at-risk women face hunger and shame because they cannot support themselves or their children. Your gift of $120 to provide vocational training can change the life of such a woman or girl in Uganda. You’ll provide skills instruction, materials, marketing training, and ongoing support that will open the door to a respectable, rewarding trade such as tailoring, cosmetology, jewelry-making, or dairy farming — and keep women and girls from unthinkable, soul-numbing choices like street begging or prostitution.
Computers and Computer Equipment – $50-$650
Access to computers, tablets and equipment such as printers and scanners can provide life-changing educational opportunities for all – children, youth and adults – in impoverished communities. Help MercyLine provide a basic computer lab with your gift. (Please see note below about shipping donations.)
Used Cell Phones and Laptops
If you’ve recently upgraded your cell phone or laptop, MercyLine can make good use of your old working device. In the U.S. please contact Beret’s Light to arrange for transportation on a future visit to Uganda. In Africa, or elsewhere in the world, please contact MercyLine to discuss your contribution.
Shipping Donations:
While MercyLine would love to accept your donations of items such as desktop computers, farming supplies and books, shipping to Uganda is very expensive. We cannot accept your donation of such items unless you also provide the shipping fees. If you elect to donate money to MercyLine, it will be spent in Uganda whenever possible, helping to improve the local economy while making life better for vulnerable children and families.
If you know of anyone who will be traveling to Uganda, please ask them to consider contacting us so that they might carry supplies from generous donors in other countries.
