Helping Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Uganda by Providing Basic Needs, Healthcare and Education.
MercyLine Uganda is an independent, indigenous, non-governmental and Christian-based organization with the prime mandate of providing basic needs, such as food and clothing, and an education, to desperately poor and neglected orphans, many of whom have lost parents to AIDS. MercyLine also assists widows with children who have lost their spouses to AIDS.
MercyLine moves children from the streets of Jinja and the surrounding area into family settings. African culture has not traditionally institutionalized orphans and MercyLine places great value on placing children with a relative or foster family with mothers and fathers who care for them responsibly. When it is not possible to place an orphan with a family, the child is cared for at the MercyLine Children’s Home.
